Impressions
Frente Rojo does a number of impressions from the Spanish Civil War. Our primary impression is the Abraham Lincoln Battalion. We also have members who do medical impressions and Republican army impressions. If you have an impression or are interested in doing an impression not listed here, we're interested in hearing from you! We can also help you get your kit together and have some items to loan for people who are interested but don't have complete kits yet. Please contact us or follow us on Facebook.
Lincoln Battalion
In 1937, nearly 3500 volunteers traveled to Spain to join the international brigades to fight fascism. The Lincoln Battalion was the first integrated US military unit with African American, Asian, Native American, and Hispanic members. It was also the first integrated military unit commanded by an African America, Oliver Law, who was democratically elected to lead the unit. While some Lincolns were WII veteran, most were untrained students, laborers, and idealists. Once in Spain, they drilled with broomsticks until their rifles arrived, 3 days before their first battle.

American Medical Bureau
Volunteer doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers, medics, and other medical personnel formed the American Medical Bureau. They served along side other international medical volunteers and the Spanish Red Cross providing aid to the military and refugees. The Spanish Civil War saw many military medical innovations such as blood bank technology and use of sulfa drugs that would carry on into WWII.

Anarchists
Anarchists were a faction of the Republican forces comprised of workers from labor movements such as CNT/FAI. They included both men and women who fought on the front lines and provided political support behind the lines.
